Abstract

1363991 Electromagnetic contactors METZENAUER & JUNG GmbH 12 May 1972 [15 May 1971] 22459/72 Heading H1N An electromagnetic switch has a box-like housing and auxiliary contact units and the housing comprises a base shell 1 containing a contact assembly and partition 2 interposed between the base shell and a cover 3 which also contains the electromagnet with the partition 2 positively engaging in the base shell 1 and cover 2 by means of mating projections and recesses whilst the housing parts 1, 2, 3 are held together by quick-release fasteners 32 at the sides of the housing. The base shell has contact compartments 8 separated by webs 5, 6, each provided with a groove 7 to receive a projection 15 of the partition 2. The projections 15 also enter grooves in a contact carrier 11 which support three spring-biased contact bridges 10 in respective compartments 8 which include fixed contacts 9. Levers 13 pivoted within grooves 7 are connected to the carrier 11 and biased by a spring 21 to a position in which it retains contacts 9, 10 in an open position with the armature 19 co-operating with ends 22 on the levers 13 to be held in its unattracted position against back stops 31 extending from the partition 2. The latter has apertures 14 for the levers 13 and projections 28a, 29 which retain the bobbin 17 and core 18 within the cover 3 when the housing parts 1, 2, 3 are held together by fasteners 32 inserted against the bias of springs 33 through keyhole slots 37, 38 in the partition 2 and the base shell 1. The auxiliary contact units are mounted in compartments (41) in the cover 3 behind a plate (52) with offset indicator apertures I, O allowing the position of an operating slide (44, Fig. 4, not shown) to be seen.
