Abstract
773,207. Aerials. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 1, 1955 [July 2, 1954], No. 19384/54. Class 40(7) A high-frequency transmitting aerial arrangement comprises an electrically loaded aerial mounted within a supporting metal structure having openings for the passage of wave energy therethrough. The loading causes the aerial currents to have a phase velocity substantially different from that in the support structure so as to reduce the coupling which would otherwise occur between the aerial and the structure. As shown the aerial consists of two collinear loaded dipoles 6, 7, 1.5# long and fed from the transmitter by feeder 8. Feeder and dipoles may be supported in any suitable manner inside an equi - angular triangular - sectional structure consisting of vertical aluminium masts 1, 2, 3 and bracing members &c. 5. The distance between the members 1, 2 and 3 may be #/2 and between members 5 at least #/4. If the current phase velocity in the aerial is of the order of three times that in the members 1, 2 and 3 coupling between the aerial and these numbers is negligibly small.
