Abstract
771,769. Knitting - - machines. MONK (SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD), Ltd., S. A. Dec. 19, 1955 [Dec. 17, 1954], No. 36526/54. Class 74 (2). The same draw mechanism 65, 66 drives the slur cocks 30 and thread carrier bar 10 of a straightbar machine, and in order to maintain the lead of the thread carriers over the slur cocks in each direction of traverse the chain 40 transmitting the reciprocatory motion to the carrier bar is provided with two drivers 41, 42 attached to it at spaced locations. In each direction of traverse the leading driver drives the driving member 51 coupled by a retractable bolt 12 to the carrier bar and thereby the necessary carrier bar lead is provided. At the end of each traverse the leading driver will pass out of the slot provided between the two abutments 49, 50 as the chain passes around the sprocket-wheels 43, 44 and 45, 46 mounted on adjustable saddles 47, 48. To enable the following driver to follow the path of the chain the abutment members have a cam surface 56, 57 and are held in position by a spring-loaded arm 52, 53, Fig. 4. When the following driver engages the cam surface 56, 57, the abutment member is deflected out of its path against the action of the spring and permits the following driver to pass.
