Abstract
Substituted thiazolidines of the formula <FORM:0771425/IV(b)/1> where R is an aromatic radical and R1 and R2 are alkyl are prepared by heating aminoalcohols of the formula R-CHOH-CHR1-NHR2 (or salts thereof) with thiourea or ammonium thiocyanate at 180-250 DEG C. The product is obtained as thiocyanate salt from which the free base may be produced by treatment with alkali hydroxide. Examples are given of the process where R is phenyl and R1 and R2 are methyl. Specification 690,238 is referred to.
