Abstract

Secondary aminodithiothiazoles of formula <FORM:0835667/IV (b)/1> in which R and R1 are the same or different aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aralkyl groups, or R and R1 together form a single ring with the N atom, and R2 is a 2-thiazole or arylene-2-thiazole radical are prepared by reacting a 2-mercaptothiazole or a 2,21-bis-thiazole disulphide with a secondary amine, an N-chloro secondary amine and sulphur in the presence of an alkaline reacting material such as an organic amine (e.g. an excess of the secondary amine reactant) or an alkali metal salt of carbonic acid. A solvent may be used. Reflux temperature is usual. The products are rubber vulcanization accelerators.
