Abstract
770,712. Axial-flow pumps etc.; elastic-fluid and hydraulic turbines. KONINKLIJKE MASCHINEFABRIEK GEB. STORK & CO., N.V. March 9, 1955 [April 1, 1954], No. 6986/55. Classes 110 (1) and 110 (3). In a turbine or pump for use with gaseous or liquid medium, rotor blades 2 are adjusted by means of a rotatable auxiliary shaft 4 arranged coaxially in the hollow main shaft 9 of the rotor, the auxiliary shaft being operated by a motor 22 through reduction gearing which is housed in a casing 17 carried by the free end of the shaft 9, the latter being coupled by gearing 11, 12 to the driving motor 15 in the case of a pump or to the driven machine in the case of a turbine. Each blade 2 is provided with a worm-wheel driven by a worm, the worms being arranged with their axes parallel and driven in unison through intermediate gear-wheels by a pinion 3 on the end of the auxiliary shaft 4. The motor 22, which can be run in either direction to effect the adjustment, is connected to the reduction gearing by a coupling 21 which may be a centrifugal coupling or an electromagnetic coupling which is switched on or off simultaneously with the motor. The casing 17 is connected to the shaft 9 by a casing 16 having slots for guiding projections 27 carried by a nut 25 which engages a threaded part 24 of the shaft 4. The projections 27 are connected by a rack and pinion to an indicator 23.
