A cylindrical plug cock has a sealing sleeve 1 of rubber, plastic material, &c. interposed between the plug 8 and the body 6 and formed with beads 2 surrounding the ports controlled by the plug and beads 4 at either end of the sleeve and encircling the plug. The beads may be on both the inner and outer surfaces of the sleeve or on the inner surface only. Each end of the sleeve has an extension 5 by which it may be secured in position by an end cap 9. Modifications include the omission of the extensions 5, the provision of reinforcing means for the ports 3 in the sleeve, and the moulding of the sleeve directly within the valve casing.
