Abstract
768,922. Ordnance; elevating gear. ANSTALT FUR DIE ENTWICKLUNG VON ERFINDUNGEN UND GEWERBLICHEN ANWENDUNGEN ENERGA. April 29, 1955 [May 4, 1954], No. 12544/55. Class 92. The elevating mechanism of a gun is arranged outside the plane passing through the longitudinal axis, and comprises a worm 7 arranged perpendicular to the axle 11 of the towing wheels 3 and having one of its ends connected rigidly to the axle to which it transmits the longitudinal stresses to which it is subjected. The worm 7 shown is held in bearings 9 in one of the members 4 supporting the barrel-recuperator-breech assembly 1, and is connected to the trunnion 5 of the assembly by an elevating arm 6. A two-part yoke 10 is fitted to the axle 11, and one part is fitted with bearings 13, 14, which engage the faces of a collar 15 on the shaft of the worm. By this means forces, both to the front and to the rear, are transmitted from the worm to the wheel axle.
