Abstract
768,410. Capacitors. WINGROVE & ROGERS, Ltd. April 5, 1955, No. 9874/55. Class 37. In a variable capacitor of the type comprising a dielectric tube a having a fixed electrode b formed around one end thereof and a movable electrode e in the form of a plunger actuated by rotation of a threaded shaft d attached thereto, the shaft d works within a mounting bush c having an internally threaded portion c4, Fig. 3, and a smooth-bored portion c5 of greater diameter the inner end of which is provided with axial slots c6 and a circumferential groove c7, thus permitting the inner end to be formed with an inward set so that the threaded shaft d is gripped resiliently to provide good electrical contact between the shaft d and the bush c. Insulation f may be provided to prevent contact between the electrodes b and e. In a modification, Fig. 6, the bush c is provided with a uniform screw-threaded bore throughout its length. The bush c has a screw-threaded outer portion and a flange c3 whereby the capacitor may be bolted to a panel, the screw-threaded portion being formed with a flat c2.
