741,019. Electric condensers. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 7, 1953 [Aug. 9, 1952; March 25, 1953], No. 21863/53. Class 37. A feed through capacitor consists of a central conductor and a concentric annular electrode supported at its ends by two ceramic spacers loosely fitting on the conductor which are provided with conductive coatings on some of their surfaces which are in contact with the central conductor and annular electrode. The annular electrode may have recessed ends into which the spacers are pressed by nuts through spring washers and may be flanged and threaded externally to receive a mounting nut (Fig. 1, not shown). Alternatively the electrode may rest between the recessed edges of the spacers or it may rest between the spacers 20, 21 and be kept in position by a low dielectric constant washer 23, connected to one of the other parts to prevent rattling, and mounted on a hollow rivet 22 (Fig. 3). In this case the washer 23 may form a tube concentric with the central conductor on which the drilled out spacers may be fitted. The surfaces of the ceramic spacers in contact with the electrodes are metallized, e.g. by silver layers, and the spacers are preferably of materials having different dielectric constants.
