Abstract

845,404. Variable capacitors. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 6, 1956 [Nov. 30, 1955], No. 34232/55. Class 37. A variable capacitor comprises an insulating support 3; a planar electrode 1, 2 formed thereon by printed circuit technique; and a movable electrode 6 mounted for movement relative to the planar electrode to vary the capacity. The fixed planar electrode comprises two spaced aparts, electrically connected portions 1, 2. The movable electrode 6 is of aluminium with an oxide coating on the surface adjacent the fixed electrode to act as a dielectric, and is pivoted at its centre to the supporting plate 3. A variable capacitance from 1 to 5 pF is obtainable.
