Abstract
720,574. X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1962 [Sept. 8, 1951], No. 22400/52. Class 98 (1). An X-ray tube of the kind having only one high-voltage electrode is enclosed in a shockproof casing and connected to a high-tension cable, the space between the X-ray tube and the casing being filled with insulating liquid and the cable being introduced into the casing in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the X-ray tube, and is characterized in that the X-ray tube is rotatable about its longitudinal axis with respect to the cable and a liquid-tight bearing is provided in the casing. As shown, the X-ray tube 4 is mounted in an oil-filled cylindrical casing 1 between a contact 9 on an insulating bush 10 and an oil-tight bearing 8, the hollow anode 11 extending outside the casing. The casing is damped by its central portion 2, and a cylinder 5 fast with the tube 4 overlies part of the casing 1. A cable 3 supplies high voltage and filament voltage to the tube through contact 9, which is located on the axis of the tube so that contact is maintained when the tube is rotated about its axis by means of cylinder 5. In a modification the tube is fixed with respect to the casing, which is rotatable with respect to the cable by means of an oiltight bearing.
