Abstract

706,634. Discharge lamps. OHIO CARBON CO. June 5, 1951, No. 13310/51. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XXXVI] A gas filled current limiting discharge lamp used for testing comprises two spaced electrodes 10, 20, Fig. 3, mounted within an envelope 30, an electrical conductor 12 welded at one end to one electrode 10, Fig. 2, and having the other end extending externally of the envelope and embedded in one end of a carbon resistor 11 spaced from the envelope, and a second conductor 13 attached by welding to a conducting lead 13a embedded in the other end of the resistor, the electrode 10, conductor 12, resistor 11 and conductor 13 forming an assembly unit. The envelope 30 is surrounded by a transparent housing 31 carried by an insulating sleeve 32 extending from one end of the envelope 30 and surrounding the resistor 11. A lead 21 is welded to a conductor extending from the second electrode 20. The leads 13a and 21 are provided externally with insulation 14 and 24 and terminate in test prods 15 and 25.
