A folding chair is provided with detachable, inflatable upholstery which can be converted into a bag to accommodate the folded frame. The upholstery can be used separately as an air mattress. Folding chair frames (Fig. 3 and 4). The seat frame m is mounted on upwardly-hinging legs q and is pivoted at the rear to the back rest k the upper part j of which can be swung forwards relative to the lower part. The inclination of the back rest is adjustable by means of pins r engaging selectively in notches in the arm rests o. To fold the frame, part j of the back rest is swung down and then the whole back rest is pivoted down on to the seat. Finally the rear part n of the arm rest is hinged down so that a pin w is engaged in a slot x at the rear of the seat and the legs are pivoted to lie against the seat. Mattresses (Fig. 2). The air mattress b has reeds extending across it transversely and is provided with sliding clasp or other fasteners s, t and handles f so that it can be converted into a carrier bag for the frame. A separately inflatable pillow a is attached to the mattress by snap or other fasteners. Attaching upholstery. The inflatable mattress may merely rest on the chair frame but, according to the Provisional Specification, it is secured thereto by snap fasteners. If the upholstery be sheet of material such as canvas, the sheet has end hems taking over rods the ends of which are received in loops z on the chair frame.
