766,639. Mixing appliances. APEX CONSTRUCTION, Ltd., and PECK, W. C. June 11, 1954 [July 21, 1953], No. 20288/53. Class 86 A powder mixer comprises a mixing vessel rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis 4 having two cylindrical or truncated conical portions 1, Fig. 1a, which communicate horizontally with each other and which intercommunicate at a junction of substantially circular cross section with a third portion 3 which is of truncated conical shape, the axes of the two portions 1 being inclined in opposite directions respectively from the axis of the portion 3, the axes of the three portions and the axis of rotation of the vessel being disposed in a common plane. A cylindrical belt 7, Fig. 3a may be disposed between the third portion and the circular junction. The discharge outlets can be of various types having closures such as cover plates 19 held by swing bolts or clamping bars or sliding plate, iris type, mushroom plug or butterfly valve outlets. The charging inlets can be closed by cover plates 20 held by swing bolts or by a spider or clamping bar.
