Abstract
709,003. Mixing appliances. APEX CONSTRUCTION, Ltd. May 30, 1951 [June 16, 1950], No. 15141/50. Class 86 Apparatus for mixing discrete particles such as powders, granules or crystals, comprises a mixing vessel having two compartments, 1 and 2 which have their axes at an angle to one another and which are in communication at their junction from which opens a common outlet 7. Removable closures 3. 4 and 8 are provided at the outlet and free ends of the compartments, the vessel being rotated about a horizontal or substantially horizontal axis which passes between the junction and the free ends so that the axes of the compartments will subtend different angles with respect to the. vertical. In Fig. 1, the vessel rotates about a horizontal axes passing through trunnions 9 which are secured to the compartments 1 and 2 at different angles. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the vessel is rotated about an axis which is rocked in a vertical plane about one of its ends by a crank mechanism. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the trunnion connected to the compartment 2 is driven with planetary motion and the trunnion connected to the compartment 1 is swivelly mounted upon the machine frame.
