750,197. Batch mixing-machines. KESTNER EVAPORATOR & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Oct. 29, 1954 [Dec. 15, 1953], No. 34893/53. Class 86. An apparatus for mixing liquids comprises a motor 10 disposed vertically on a housing 12, 13 near the respective ends of which are rotatably mounted vertical, hollow spindles 15, 16 which can be driven by the motor in the same direction or opposite directions through gearing disposed in the housing. Spindles 15, 16 respectively house the upper ends of depending shafts 17, 18 each carrying a propeller at its lower end, the housing being pivotally mounted on a clamp adapted to be secured to the side of the liquid container. The propeller axes are spaced apart a distance preferably equal to from one half to one and a half times the propeller diameter, which ensures that their zones of action are in interference thus giving increased mixing effect whilst preventing mass rotation of the liquid.
