A pair of members is connected together by a telescopic hinge comprising two attachment plates each of which is adapted to be mounted on one of said members and includes an arcuate slide extending from at least one side of the plate, an arcuate guide member which extends over part of the turning circle of the hinge when the latter is open and is accommodated in housings formed in said members when the hinge is closed, and at least one telescopic element associated with each slide and provided with movement limiting means, each attachment plate being formed with an opening adapted to allow the telescopic element or elements to enter said housings in the closed position of the hinge. In Figs. 2 and 3 members F and M are hinged about an axis O by means of attachment plates 1, 2 formed respectively with arcuate slides 1<SP>1</SP>, 21 which are spaced axially and which project from both sides of the plates. The inner projections enter housings 5, 6 in said members, and the outer projections are mounted in channel-shaped, arcuate telescopic elements 12 which are in turn mounted in grooves formed in an arcuate guide member 9. Further arcuate members 10, 11 are provided to cover the slides in the fully open position of the hinge. The parts 9, 10, 11 and 12 pass through openings 3, 4 formed in the attachment plates and are accommodated in the housings 5, 6 when the hinge is closed. Pins (not shown) fitted in the slides 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP> co-operate with movement limiting slots or grooves formed in the parts 9 and 12. In a modification, Fig. 6, a guide member 13 of S-shape is arranged in conjunction with slides 14<SP>1</SP> and 15<SP>1</SP> (not shown), and telescopic elements 131, 13<SP>11</SP>, to permit relative pivoting between the members F and M through substantially 360 degrees about alternative axes 0, O. In a further modification, Fig. 9, the guide member 16 is of W-shape and co-operates with slides 17, 18 and a telescopic element 21 in the form of two helicoidal bands having opposed inclinations symmetrical with respect to their meeting edge 22.
