Description

A. F. AIELLO WRIST COMPACT Sept. 15, 1931;
Filed March 14, 1930 m R M m mm H ll atented Sept. 15, 1931 ANTHONY F. AJIELLO, or BaooKLYN, new YORK WRIST coMrAcr Application filed March 14, 1930. Serial No. 435,944.
This invention relates to compacts, and particularly to an improved compact adapted to be worn on the wrist, the structure being such that the main parts of the compact may be swung from one position to another, in order to secure proper access to the cosmetics in the compact and to position the mirror carried by the compact correctly.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide a wrist compact with the body capable of being swung from oneposition to another, in order that the mirror carried by the compact may be positioned at a desired angle when using the cosmetics.
A further object, more specifically, is to provide a wrist compact having a band connected with a base and a compact member mounted on the base, the structure being such that when the compact is not in use the samewill be held substantially rigidly in a given position while being capable of being swung readily to a right angle position.
In the accompanylng draw1ngs,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a wrist compact disclosing an embodiment ofthe invention, a hand and wrist formed by dots and dashes being shown in connection therewith; V
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the compact shown in Figure l, the same being closed and part of the wrist band being broken away;
Figure 3 is a view with the compact body'swung to one side and opened so as to expose a'mirror;
Figure 4 is a sectional view through Figure 2 on the line H, the same being on an enlarged scale.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a band which may be of any desired kind, and 2 a base to which band 1 is connected in any desired manner. The base 2 is provided with an annular s groove 3, as shown in Figures 2 and 4, said groove accommodating the respective projections 4 extending from the bottom 5 of the compact member 6. A rivet or connecting member '7 connects the bottom 5 with base 2 and pinches the projections 4 against the similar to Figure 2 but bottom of groove 3, whereby the compact member 6 will be normally held in any position to which it has been moved. The base 2 is provided with holes or apertures 7 into which the projections 4 move when thecom- Figure 2. It will be understood that the compact member 6 may be made in any desired manner, so far as the detail structure is concerned, namely, with a suitable body and cover 10 hinged to the body and the mirror 8 hinged to the body. In forming the body portion 5 is formed with the depressed portions 4, as heretofore described, the .invention residing in the swinging features and the way the parts are locked or held in different positions, so that when closed, the compact will be positioned substantially parallel with the wrist, and when open the parts may be swung to a position at right angles to the wrist, whereby the mirror 8 may be brought to a correct position in front of the face as the compact is used.
What I claim is 1. A wrist compact, comprising a base having openings therein, and a compact pivotally mounted on said base, said compact having depending members adapted to fit into said openings for substantially locking the compact against swinging movement.
2. A. wrist compact, comprising a base, a compact member, means for rotatably securing a compact member with the base, and friction means for holding the compact member in substantially any adjusted position on the base.
3. A wrist compact, including a base having a groove, a rotatable compact member mounted on said base, and projections extending from said compact member into said groove and frictionally engaging the material thereof for holding the compact member against accidental rotary movement.
4. A wrist compact, including a base having a groove with an aperture therein, a com- "pact member, a pivot member connecting the compact member with the base, and means projecting from the compact member normally fitting into saidgroove and adapted to snap into said aperture when the compact member hat been rotated to a given position.
Signed at 672 Union St, in the" countyof Kings and State of New York, this 12th day of March, 1930.
