Abstract
765,030. Cables. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. March 14, 1955 [March 16, 1954], No. 7438/55. Addition to 749,288. Class 36. In making an impregnated cable in accordance with the method disclosed in the parent Specification, the core is dried under vacuum with the aid of heat other than that obtained by the application of a high-frequency field to the dielectric, as by passing an electric current through the conductors. The low pressure created in the tube containing the core by the vacuum treatment may be utilized to effect a flow of dry gas through the tube during the heating. The dried core may be impregnated with a gas or other insulating fluid.
