Material, e.g. grain, seeds and flour mill stock, is delivered to the lower end of a vertical elevator pipe g by a shoot a and is directed into the air stream d by oppositely-directed baffles b, c, each of which is shaped to retain a cushioning supply of material thereon. An adjustable slide h is provided between the baffles and a loaded flap i is provided for releasing material when the pressure on the slide becomes excessive. The air stream enters the apparatus through openings e controlled by slides f. A normally-closed flap j opens automatically to release the material when the suction fails.
