Abstract

764,162. Stacking pallets. BEACON PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 17, 1955 [Aug. 16, 1954], No. 4826/55. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] The invention relates to apparatus for stacking pallets to facilitate storage and subsequent engagement by a fork truck. The apparatus comprises a roller platform 21 pivoted to a fluid pressure elevator 9 at 18, a feed opening 5 adjacent the bottom position of the platform, spring-loaded dogs 32 which engage the pallet at the top position of the platform and support it, together with the remainder of the stack, when the platform is lowered, and a cage (not shown) which surrounds the stack and is provided with one open side to allow the pallets to be removed from the top of the stack by a fork truck. In the lowest position of the platform, members 27, 29 abut and cause the platform to tilt to facilitate loading. Fluid pressure switches 44, 47, operated respectively by the loaded pallet and a member 49 secured to the elevator, effect reciprocation of the platform. The elevator is guided by telescopic members 19, 20.
