Abstract

1,026,434. Nesting pallets for handling loads. C. M. SULLIVAN. March 19, 1964, No. 11763/64. Heading B8H. As shown in Figs. 1, 3, a pallet 10 is stackable and nestable with superposed identical pallets 10a, 10b. Each pallet 10 is moulded of synthetic plastic material, has a platform 12 with top and bottom surfaces 13, 14 with integral hollow frustum legs 16, with bottom walls 18, allowing entry of the forks of a fork lift truck (not shown) in the eight directions indicated by the arrows in Fig. 1. The thickness of the side walls 17 of the legs 16 is so arranged that there is a gap 32 between the side walls of adjacent pallets, either the bottom surface 14 of one pallet or the bottom wall of the legs 16 contacting the top surface 13 of the next. Preferably, the bottom walls 18 of the legs 16 are the same thickness as the platforms 12 so that they form a column when the pallets are stacked. Wear plates 36 and collars 34 of stainless steel may be moulded into the bottom wall 18 and may receive a flat support member 46 which may also close the upper opening 27 of the hollow leg 16 (Figs. 6, 7). Several pallets may be superposed to form a stronger pallet and a castor 60 may be detachably attached (Fig. 10).
