763,539. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. PRESSURE PACKAGING CORPORATION, and COOKSLEY, R. D. Sept. 21, 1954 [Sept. 24, 1953], No. 27286/54. Class 102(2) [Also in Group XXIX] A dispensing container for liquids under gaseous pressure comprises a hollow body 10 with a cap 13 screwed to its open end, a nozzle 23 integral with and projecting from the cap, a tubular member - 18 mounted under the cap and carrying a syphon tube 21, a valve element 27 with a metering portion 26 slidable with small tolerance in the nozzle aperture 25 and stem 33 of reduced dia-' meter movable into the aperture to provide an enlarged opening for filling purposes, and an overcap or cover 34 carrying a spray discharge nozzle 38 and having a depressible top 37 engageable with the top of the stem 33 to open the valve against a, spring 32. The body 10, its cap 13, the valve element 27 and the tubular member or sleeve 18 may be of plastic. The lower part of the metering portion 26 is surrounded by a rubber sleeve 28 fitted into an annular groove in the enlarged base 30 of the valve element. The overcap has a base flange 35 fitting a recess in the top of the cap 13. The overcap has an internal flange 23<SP>1</SP> which snaps into a groove on the outside of the nozzle 23. The top 37 of the overcap is of reduced thickness to render it flexible but it cannot be depressed sufficiently to move the metering portion 26 out of the aperture 25. On removal of the overcap 34, a pressure filling head may be applied to the nozzle 23 to depress the valve element so that the stem 33 only occupies the aperture 25.
