763.399. Typewriters. SIEMAG FEINMECHANISCHE WERKE GES. Aug. 30, 1954 [Sept. 2, 1953], No. 25091/54. Class 100(4) A paper draw-in device for a typewriter or like machine comprises a U-shaped bracket 3 one arm of which is attached to the carriage of the machine and the other arm 3<SP>11</SP> is formed as a fixed toothed segment with which coacts an adjustable stop pawl 25. The stop pawl 25 is biased by a spring 36 free of the segment 3<SP>11</SP> and is located in required position by a handle 29 and a spring 26 lightly bearing on the segment. The handle 29 protrudes through a cover of the device and may have a scale associated with it so the position of the stop may be read through an opening in the cover. Draw-in is effected by clockwise rotation of a handle 5 which through a link 11 pulls a pawl 18 into engagement with a toothed wheel 7. The handle 5 and wheel then rotate together to drive the platen 39 until a cam 42, on a lever 8 supporting the pawl 18, engages a nose 46 of the stop 25 whose teeth, by engagement with the segment 3<SP>11</SP>, lock rotation of the :handle 5 and wheel 7.
