Web, sheet and strip feeding and guiding arrangements; aprons, bails and guides; feed rollers co-operating with platen.-A record material feeding device for a data entry machine comprises a platen 20, Fig. 1, a ratchet mechanism 25, 26 to restrain the platen against free rotation, a feeding roller 34 co-operating with record material 19 (Fig. 3, not shown) to hold the record material in engagement therewith and a manually operable member 30, which when displaced from a normal to a first position causes an arm 27, Fig. 4, to disable the ratchet mechanism 25, 26 causing the platen to move freely in either direction and when displaced from said first to a second position (Fig. 5, not shown) disengages in addition the feeding roller 34 from the platen. The disengagement is effected by shoulders 50 on the member 30 pressing against cars 51 on a guide 42, pivotally mounted on a shaft 37, the guide 42 pressing against extensions of the shaft 35 mounting the feed roller. The guide 42 is provided with an opening 47 which provides a clearance for an inking ribbon and type wheels and an opening 48 through which the feeding roller 34 may engage the platen. The feeding roller 34 fits between arms 36, mounted on the shaft 37 and urged into yielding engagement with the platen by a spring 39. Platen impression arrangements.-The platen 20, Fig. 1, is mounted on a frame 22 having holes 23 which engage a shaft (not shown) and the platen assembly is rocked about this shaft for impression to engage said record material 19 with said inking ribbon and type-wheels. Web cutting arrangements.-The member 30 is a severing member of transparent plastics material and is provided with a series of severing teeth 49 (Fig. 3, not shown) against which the record material 19 may be pulled and severed.
