763,393. Spring forks for motor-cycles. MAICO-WERK GES. July 29, 1954 [July 29, 1953], No. 21997/54. Class 136(3). In a front wheel suspension for motor cycles and three wheeled vehicles having a single front wheel the wheel axle 12 is secured to the front ends of a pair of links 14 extending forwardly from the lower part of an arcuate member 8 to which they are pivotally connected at 15, the upper part of the member 8 being connected to the steering column 21 rotatable in a steering head 10, and shock absorbing means 16 being interposed between the front ends of the links 14 and the steering column, and the upper part of the arcuate member 8 carries a steering box 6 which encloses the front of the steering head 10. The steering box is connected at its lower end to the member 8 by means of screws 7 and at its upper end to the end of the steering column 21. Alternatively, the arcuate member 8 and the steering box 6 may form an integral unit. The member 8 is provided with surfaces 26 for the direct attachment of the mudguard. Alternatively, the member 8 may itself be formed and fitted as a mudguard. The steering column 21 is mounted in bearings 5, 9, the bearing 5 being mounted in a cross, bar 4. The bearing may be adjusted by a nut 22 and a lock nut 23, a screw 24 on the cross bar 4 being slidable in a slotted hole 25 in the steering box 6. Specification 718,520 is referred to.
