Abstract
763,346. Barrel tilters. SPRINGCLERE PRODUCTS, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1954 [Sept. 16, 1953], No. 25619/53. Class 21. A barrel &c. tilter comprises an arch-like body having members 11, 14, 15, 16 with a cross-bar 17 welded to member 14, and springs 25 depending from the upper part of the arch carrying a hook 28 for attaching to the barrel. As the liquid is emptied from the barrel the springs raise the other end, increasing the angle of tilt as the weight of liquid in the container decreases. The springs are constrained to act in a direction inclined away from the outlet end of the barrel at a small angle to the vertical by means of an arm 22 pivoted about the bar 15 to which arm is welded a member 23 to which the springs 25 are attached. The bar 33 pivoted on the bar 17 serves to lower the hook 28 into engagement with the container against the action of the springs. The outlet end of the barrel rests against bearing tubes 34 rotatable on bar 16. In another embodiment the means constraining the springs comprises a bar extending across the arch 14, and screw means are provided for extending the springs and lowering the hook.
