Abstract

1,178,476. Self levelling devices. O.Q. TAYLOR. March 6, 1967, No.10518/67. Heading G1F. A self levelling tractor seat 10 is carried by bearings 15, 16 for swinging movement on a horizontal shaft 13, the seat being mounted on a parallelogram linkage 15<SP>1</SP>, 19 and counterbalanced by a spring (not shown), the movement of the seat about the shaft 13 acting as a piston in a cylinder 41 connected in a closed fluid filled loop also containing a check valve actuated by movement of a pendulum weight 20, the arrangement being such that with the seat level the valve is closed and movement of the seat about the shaft 13 is prevented, the pendulum weight 20 opening the valve when the seat is tilted from the level position allowing fluid to flow in the closed loop in one direction and the weight on the seat restoring it to its level position about the shaft 13. The valve has two open positions allowing fluid flow in one or the other direction depending on the direction of tilting of the seat.
