Abstract

774,520. Tilting-appliances for casks. SPRINGCLERE PRODUCTS, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1954 [Sept. 16, 1953], No. 25647/53. Class 21. A tilting device for liquid containers comprises a container-carrier in the form of a cradle 38 pivoted at one end 37 to a body member 32, the cradle 38 being supported at its other end by resilient tension means 45 suspended from an upper portion 36 of said body and serving to increase the angle of tilt as the liquid is withdrawn from the container. A rod 47 secured to the cradle and extending through the downwardly biassed tongue 54, grips the rod 47 to prevent downward movement but permits free upward movement thereof. To load a barrel onto the cradle 38, the tongue 54 is raised manually and the cradle 38 is depressed and held in its lowered position by a hook 57. The barrel is then placed with its greatest diameter between the rubber sleeves 43 on the arms 41, 42 and the cradle is released from the hook 57. According to modifications the body 32 may be provided with legs, runners or wheels, the spring 45 may be enclosed, two or more different springs may be available, the spring may be replaced by hydraulic or pneumatic means and the spacing between the arms 41 and 42 may be adjustable.
