A sack holder comprises a support collar to receive an open mouth of the sack, a lid, a removable clamping ring surrounding the collar, the ring holding a turned-over end of the sack against the external surface of the collar and a U-shaped support member, the arms of which are secured to the collar at diametrically opposed locations. In one embodiment, the sack holder comprises a collar 1 attached to which at two diametrically opposed points is a U-shaped support member 2 which is mounted on legs 8 which may also have wheels. A clamping ring 12 and a lid 13 are pivotally attached to a bracket 10, means being provided on the ring to allow for easy lifting and the lid having a protective skirt 17. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown) the sack holder is mounted on a wall, the U-shaped support member being in a horizontal plane and being attached to the wall by a plate. In another embodiment with the support member horizontal, Fig. 5, the main construction is as above but the lid which may be disposable is releasably mounted in a clip 36 which pivots on a bracket 34 and is opened by foot-operated means 38-44. The upright 33 is removedly mounted on a base 52 with legs 58 and wheels 59. This embodiment may alternatively be mounted on a wall by securing the upright 33 to a wall bracket. In a further embodiment (Fig. 8, 9 not shown) the clamping ring is made of circular sectioned rod, the turned back free ends of which form a hinge pin for the lid clip. The lid may be operated in a similar manner to that already described. In all embodiments the lid may be mounted at the side of the collar instead of at the back, not shown.
