Class 97(1) Each hinged side piece of a spectacle frame is partly formed by a strip of not more than 0.01 inch thick lying flat against the face and being long enough to extend rearwardly at least to the ear of the wearer or to pass beyond the edge of a gas-mask or like face protector to allow the edge of the latter to fit closely against the face. Thus practically no space is left through which poisonous gas can pass. As shown the strip 3, of stainless steel, is bent at one end into a loop 6 forming a hinge connection with a U-shaped member 5 on the frame 1 and carries at the other end a portion 4 of coiled wire.
