Abstract

773,298. Hinges and pivots. FLEMING, Ltd., J. & R. Sept. 27, 1955 [Dec. 9, 1954], No. 27535/55. Class 65 (2). A pivot for a spectacle frame comprises inter - engaging apertured ears 19, 20 and 21 connected by a non- metallic (e.g. nylon) friction sleeve 26 which is urged against the walls of the apertures by a resilient selfexpanding member 27. The member 27 is preferably made from sheet spring stainless steel and may be in the form of a longitudinally split cylinder, a spiral spring or a helical spring. The longitudinally split cylinder may have transverse cuts 36 to form a separate pair of resilient flaps 35 corresponding to each apertured ear.
