Abstract

[Also in Groups XVIII and XIX] Apparatus for locating the levels of the liquid in the two arms of a manometer 1 (Fig. 1), comprises iron floats 2 on the surfaces, and an energized movable solenoid 3 surrounding each arm, the solenoids being moved up and down until a series ammeter 5 locates the float 2 by a minimum reading, when attached pointers 7 indicate the difference of level on a scale 6. If the liquid is other than mercury the iron floats 2 are carried by corks.
