902,573. Indicating liquid levels. BREGEL, E., and BREGEL, L., [trading as PHOENIXARMATUREN-WERK, BREGEL KOMM.- GES.]. Oct. 13, 1958 [Oct. 12, 1957], No. 32544/58. Class 123 (1). A liquid level indicator comprises a shallow box-like housing 4 which is secured by a strap 16 to a gauge tube 1 connected with the liquid container, the housing containing a number of small plates 7 of magnetic material arranged in a louvre-like manner, each plate being pivoted on pins 6 engaging in opposed holes 5 in the side walls of the housing so that it can turn about its horizontal mid-line. The front and reverse side of the plates are coloured differently. A float carrying a magnet 2 is disposed within the tube 1, the arrangement being such that as the float rises or falls with changing level the plates are successively turned over, those above the instant level being of one colour whilst those below are of a contrasting colour. To prevent the plates from being turned, for example, by rapid oscillation of the magnet, through more than 180 degrees, each is provided with a side stop 10 which engages under a longitudinal rib 14 in the housing side wall. The housing is sealed from atmosphere by a glass plate 12 and may be filled with glycerine or the like to prevent corrosion or icing-up of the plate pivots.
