762,293. Reciprocating pumps. GRATZMULLER, J. L. Feb. 5, 1954 [Feb. 5, 1953], No. 3457/54. Class 102(1) [Also in Group XXXIV] A shaft A is supported in the opposite walls of a casing 1 in which the cylindrical bearing surfaces are formed, the casing being made from a metal having a greater coefficient of expansion than the shaft and lubricant is circulated through the bearings. Fig. 1 illustrates the shaft A being formed with a journal 35 supported in a blind bore 29 and a larger journal 36 supported in a bore 30 closed by a cover 38 having a sleeve 121 that engages a shoulder on the journal 36. The shaft has an eccentric 28 and is shaped so that it may be inserted into the casing 1 through the bore 30; the eccentric is connected to a pump plunger as described in Specification 762,292 [Group XXVI]. Rings 40, 40a are supported by the shaft and depend into lubricant which is carried to the bearings and returned through passages 42, 43; a slinger flange 44 is formed on the shaft.
