Abstract

Fur felt hoods, which may be obtained from rabbit fur, are bleached in a neutral or faintly acid solution of hydrogen peroxide or a per-salt at a temperature between 70 and 100 DEG C. The per-salt may be a persulphate, perborate or percarbonate. In the example fur felt hoods are treated with an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution at 100 DEG C. and, after washing with water, are treated at 20 DEG C. with an aqueous solution of sodium bisulphite.
