Abstract

Peroxymonosulphuric acid is stabilized by the addition of dipicolinic acid. About 5 to 1000 parts per million, and more particularly 250 to 750 parts per million of stabilizer may be employed. The peroxymonosulphuric acid stabilized may be that obtained by the interaction of hydrogen peroxide and sulphuric acid. Such a product may contain 43 per cent of peroxymonosulphuric acid, 51 per cent of sulphuric acid, 3 per cent of hydrogen peroxide, and 3 per cent of water. Solutions containing down to about 10 per cent of peroxymonosulphuric acid may also be stabilized.
