759,375. Pistons; piston rods. NORTHROP AIRCRAFT, Inc. Sept. 18, 1953 [Sept. 19, 1952], No. 25813/53. Class 122(1) [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXIII] A double-acting piston 39 in a hydraulic actuator has two sealing rings in grooves 50, 51 with a third groove 52 between them, the groove 52 being vented to a pressure less than that operating the actuator so that the rings are always pressed towards the groove 52 and eliminate "time-lag" in the movement of the actuator. The groove 52 is connected by holes 54 to a bore 49 in the rod of the piston and a vent 55 to the atmosphere is provided.
