757,978. Turbine and compressor blades. STALKER, E. A. Nov. 27, 1950, No. 18868/52. Divided out of 757,977. Class 110(3) A blade for a turbine or compressor rotor comprises a hollow aerofoil section made from sheet metal and formed with root flanges which project in opposite chordwise directions from the leading and trailing edges of the root, the flanges being adapted for engagement with and securing to spaced side plates of the rotor by a metal fusion process. The blades 30 in Figs. 2 & 3 have root flanges 36 each having an insert 37 and the root flanges are adapted for mounting in radially-disposed slots formed at the peripheries of rotor discs. In Fig. 3a the blade root is extended inwardly at 70 beyond the flanges 36, the extension having flanged portions 71 for engagement with the rotor discs. The subject matter of the present Specification is substantially the same as that of the parent Specification but the claims differ. Specifications 724,074 and 757,979 are referred to.
