Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXIX] A rotor for use in turbines or compressors comprises a hub H having axiallyspaced sheet metal side plates 20 and hollow sheet-metal blades 15, the root portions 14 of the blades being disposed between the side plates and. being secured thereto by means which include bonding by fused metal for example soldering. Rim closures 22 having external flanges 40 and internal flanges 40a are disposed between adjacent blades, the flanges 40 being soldered to the side plates 20 and the flanges 40a being soldered to the blade roots 14. A damaged blade may be cut out and replaced by a blade 30 as shown in Fig. 2, the new blade having lateral flanges 36 which are mounted in radiallydisposed slots 34 cut in the rotor side plates 20. A rim closure 22 is disposed around the new blade and the blade is secured by soldering. The bladed rotor itself may be built up by the construction indicated in Fig. 2. In Fig. 9, the rotor side plates 52 have inwardly-turned flanges 50 which are formed with slots corresponding to the shape of the blades, and with radial slots to receive the lateral flanges 36 on the blade roots. Rings 56 extend around the side plates above the flanges 36. Dimensions and proportions are given. Specifications 724,074, 757,978, 757,979 and 757,980 are referred to.
