757,979. Turbine and compressor blades. STALKER, E. A. Nov. 27, 1950, No. 18869/54. Divided out of 757,977. Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXII] A hollow rotor blade for a turbine or compressor is constructed from a rectangular sheet metal plate, two opposite edges 64 of which are bevelled and one surface of which is grooved or recessed at 62 parallel to the bevelled edges. The plate is folded about the recess to form the leading edge of a hollow aerofoil section blade the two bevelled edges meeting to form the trailing edge. The recess is formed by a rolling operation, and the abutting edges 64 are joined by a metal fusion process. The blade may be closed at the tip or root end by closing together the blade walls. The subjectmatter in the present Specification is substantially the same as part of that in the parent Specification but the claims differ- Specification 757,978 is referred to.
