Abstract
The substance obtained by reacting animal fibres, e.g. wool fibres, in boiling water with an alkyl sulphonic acid or with a dialkyl sulphite and then reacting the product so-obtained with an alkyl boric acid ester is employed as an accelerator in dyeing animal fibres. The acid substance may be neutralized with sodium or ammonium hydroxide and may be stabilized by the addition of sodium sulphate, dextrin or an amide.ALSO:In the dyeing of animal fibres, e.g. wool, with acid, metallized or chrome dyes, improved results are obtained by adding to the dyebath an accelerator obtained by reacting animal fibres in boiling water with an alkyl sulphonic acid or with a dialkyl sulphite and reacting the product so obtained with an alkyl boric acid ester. The acid, e.g. formic, acetic or sulphonic acid, necessary for the dyeing operation is added to the dyebath at the beginning of the operation with no subsequent addition of acid for exhausting. Chrome dyes are applied by the single-bath after-metalization process or by the metachrome process.
