Abstract

Improved colouations on cellulosic textile materials with basic dyes or dyes containing isothiouronium or quaternary ammonium salt groups are obtained by a pretreatment with a mixture of polyacrylic acid and an alkali metal or ammonium salt of polyacrylic acid. In the case of dyes containing isothiouronium or quaternary ammonium salt groups a subsequent treatment with alkali is necessary. Dyeing may be effected by the bath, pad-dry or pad-steam techniques. Numerous examples are given. Specification 587,636, [Group IV], is referred to.
