Abstract

Natural polyamide fibres, especially wool, are dyed with acid or metal-complex dyes by applying the dyes in the presence of hydroxylamine or treating with hydroxylamine prior to dyeing or printing. The dyes may be reactive dyes and they may be applied together with fluorescent brightening agents, levelling, wetting and wool protecting agents, Glauber's salt and common salt. The hydroxylamine may be used as such or in the form of a salt e.g. the sulphate. Examples are given.
