Abstract
757,385. Ground surfaces; wood block flooring, &c. GARTI, M. Oct. 24, 1952 [Oct. 25, 1951], No. 26772/52. Classes 20(4) and 107. [Also in Group XV] A ground surface for athletic tracks and other purposes comprises a resilient layer made up from a finely divided material, covered with a plurality of tiles interconnected by means allowing the tiles a limited relative displacement including a vertical movement and having a covering surface layer above said tiling arrangement. The tiles may be of e.g. wood, metal or cement. If desired the tiling may be covered by rubber or other resilient material, or the tiling may be perforated to allow for the growth of grass. The resilient layer may be composed of several sawdust-and-tar layers and may be laid on an impermeable layer. A continuous concrete layer prepared in known manner with planes of weakness, may be utilised to form the tiling layer, the division into interconnected tiles taking place by loading. In the Figure, tiles 50 are connected with cramps 54 through holes 52, 53 to give the necessary limited vertical displacement. Several other specific embodiments are described and illustrated in the Specification.
