Abstract

1426425 Protecting grass J BLACKBURN 13 Feb 1973 [7 March 1972 8 April 1972 16 May 1972] 10625/72 16316/72 and 22999/72 Heading A1E Tile for protecting grass has a flat surface 10 with apertures 11 through which the grass grows while rooted in soil mixture 19. The tile is stiffened by ribs 12 and is sufficiently strong to withstand the normal loading imposed on the grass area. Projections 13 support the tile on an established surface 17 which may be soil or a hard surface such as concrete. When used on a soil base a perforated sheet of plastics material 18 may be laid on the surface to conserve moisture. The tile may be made of plastics material, fibre-reinforced cement or a clay mixture. Alternative forms which can be of plastics or sheet metal are described. The tiles can also be used on a sloping or vertical surface when the back of the tile may be sealed with a plastic membrane.
