Abstract

1392931 Laying Pipes Underground L M HOLROYD 16 Aug 1972 [14 Aug 1971] 38237/ 71 Heading A1B [Also in Division F2] A pipe of a shape-holding but flexible plastics material is laid in the ground by: (a) placing a first layer of settable mix in a trench. (b) placing the said plastics pipe on the said first layer of settable mix. (c) introducing a second layer of settable mix such that it is not necessary to suport the plastics pipe internally against collapse. (d) allowing the settable mix to set. (e) filling the trench. Materials The settable mix is preferably cementitious and may be formed (e.g. when the plastics pipe has porous portions for drainage). The plastics may be polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride. More than one plastics pipe may be cast into the settable mix to form a multiple conduit.
