In a crystal-controlled oscillator an asymmetrically conductive device GR is connected in series with the crystal K, the device being biased by a current substantially equal to the maximum permissible crystal current, to limit the maximum current to this value. The bias current may be obtained from the H.T. supply or as shown from a separate supply E. Flattening of the peaks of the oscillatory voltage is prevented by the selective properties of the crystal.
