The rollers 1, 2 of a conveyer for elongated metal objects 13, such as tubes or rolled steel sections, are made of ferro-magnetic material and are situated in a magnetic field created by permanent magnets 3, 4 and a magnetic yoke 5. The rollers are mounted in, and magnetically insulated from, the yoke. In a modification a roller, which is magnetically connected to the yoke, is placed between the rollers 1, 2.
